Scope
Brookhaven 2030 is a three−year, three−phased process in which the goals, recommendations, strategies and legal framework for the future of the Town will be developed through an open, collaborative process.
The first phase, Comprehensive Plan 2030 will consist of data collection, analysis and outreach in order to establish a vision and draft plan for Brookhaven’s future. This draft plan must undergo an environmental impact assessment as prescribed under the State Environmental Quality Review Act (SEQRA) to ensure that the proposed Plan avoids or limits any possible negative environmental impacts. Therefore Phase II will consist of developing this Environmental Impact Statement for the SEQRA review. More detailed district level plans will also be developed during this phase. Finally, after SEQRA approval is obtained, the legal framework will be established through the analysis and amendment of the current zoning code for consistency with Comprehensive Plan 2030.
At the start of each phase, a more detailed scope of work, with specific goals and tasks, will be established. Currently, Phase I, Comprehensive Plan 2030, is underway and the scope of work can be viewed
