Conservation Advisory Committee
The Town of Brookhaven Conservation Advisory Council (CAC) is an eleven member council made up of Brookhaven Town residents and two ex-officio members from the Division of Environmental Protection and the Highway Department. The CAC meets on the third Wednesday of each month in the Planning Board Chairman’s office. Enabling legislation for the Conservation Advisory Council is contained in Article 12-F of the Environmental Conservation Law of New York State.
The CAC has engaged in many environmental projects including; open space purchase, open space management, stormwater abatement, and wetland restoration. The chairman of the CAC represents the CAC on the Town’s Open Space Committee and the Suffolk County Council on Environmental Quality.
