Pam Betheil, Town Clerk

Pam Betheil is a longtime local leader in education; Pam began her career in public service in 1974, when she was elected to the Longwood School Board, for which she later served as President. Today, she serves as President of the Eastern Suffolk Board of Cooperative Educational Services (BOCES).

She is a proven independent voice for good government and bipartisan cooperation.

Pam’s passion for public education has carried her through nearly thirty years of service to public schools.

Elected as an Area Director to the New York State School Boards Association in 1981, Pam served as its president in 1998 and 1999, where she focused on bringing education advocates from around New York to fight for more state funding for schools.

In addition to over three decades of service in the public education arena, Pam Betheil has been a tireless supporter of community-based initiatives, including founding Longwood People for Learning and the Middle Island Community Blood Bank. Pam has also served as the Chair of the Brookhaven Planning Board (1991 to 2000).

Pam Betheil lives with her husband, Irwin, in Mt. Sinai. They have three children, Tamara, Brett and Blake, and four grandchildren, Dylan, Spencer, Skyler and granddaughter Taylor.
