The Town of Brookhaven Empire Zone

The Empire Zone was created in 1994 with the purpose of offering special state tax incentives to businesses to relocate or expand their operations in our Township.  Through the special state tax incentives, businesses are encouraged to hire workers who reside in the town (especially those who come from economically depressed areas, such as the hamlet of North Bellport, NY).  This partnership between local businesses, the Town and local residents is intended to foster economic growth within our township.

The Town of Brookhaven Empire Zone encompasses 1280 in total with over 500 acres of prime industrial sites for development.  You and your business can take advantage of the surrounding top ranked universities and centers for advanced technologies.  These include Brookhaven National Laboratory and Stony Brook University with its technology incubator!

Interested?  All it takes is following these 3 Steps to Certification:

1. Complete the Empire Zone Pre-Application packet and mail it to the Zone Coordinator, Anthony Figliola.  It will be reviewed and you will be contacted whether you qualify for the program.

2. Contact the DoED staff for a Shift Resolution Letter template to fill out, then mail it to the us and we will send it along to the municipality in which your business currently resides. [Businesses who are not currently located in a NYS Empire Zone must receive a shift resolution from that municipality in order to move into any Empire Zone in the State.

3. Download and fill out the Empire Zone Application.  When it is complete you will submit it to the Zone Coordinator for review.
