Residents age 60 and over receive nutritious meals from our Nutrition Program, which provides over 3,000 meals per month through our Home-Delivered Meals program and our 3 Congregate Dining sites. Menus are prepared by a registered dietician according to Health Department Meal Service Standards. A staff of volunteers works in conjunction with our Jitney transportation program to distribute the home-delivered meals. Our 3 nutrition centers also provide residents with the opportunity to socialize and participate in a variety of activities. Two sites have computer labs available for Internet access.
How to Apply:
Call or visit the Nutrition Site nearest your home to apply for Home Delivered Meals. A Nutrition Program Manager will make an appointment to do an assessment.
Cost:
A modest, voluntary donation is suggested.
 Home Delivered Meals:
Home-bound seniors receive a hot midday meal delivered to their home 5 days per week. Clients must be home when the meal arrives.
Congregate dining:
Residents meet on weekdays to socialize, enjoy activities and eat a nutritious hot meal together.
- The Bay Area Nutrition Center in Mastic Beach serves meals Monday through Friday.
- At our North Shore Nutrition Center in Shoreham, meals are available on Tuesdays & Fridays only.
- The Rose Caracappa Center serves meals on Mondays, Wednesdays and Thursdays.
 Limited transportation is available for those who qualify.
The Town of Brookhaven Nutrition Program is sponsored by the U.S. Dept of Health and Human Services, New York State, the Suffolk County Office for the Aging and the Town of Brookhaven.
