Belle, a sweet female Staffordshire terrier, arrived at the animal shelter 7/30/07. She was so neglected that mites caused sores on her back, ears and paws. Her paws appeared swollen and bloody nearly twice the size they should be. Upon further examination It was determined that Belle suffered from Demodectic mange and a secondary infection from scratching her skin. She is presently undergoing treatment and continuing to improve.
The Brookhaven Animal Shelter & Adoption Center continues to treat all of Belle’s medical problems. Thanks to the “Help The Animals Fund”, Belle and many others have been saved. Help the Animals Fund is a program provided by the Brookhaven Animal Shelter & Adoption Center that allows sick, neglected and injured stray animals to obtain medical care.
