2007 Our Year in Review
As the flowers and trees began to bloom in early spring, the Animal Shelter became home to many other new beginnings.…
A nest within our blooming Cherry Tree was the home to baby birds It was also discovered that a wooded area of our property became
the habitat to a baby deer.
As summer approached, the shelter prepared for it’s annual Free Rabies Clinic. This clinic was our biggest and best year yet with over 800 vaccinations given.
The shelter suffered the unexpected loss of our mascot “Blackie”. Our loss has taken a toll on many, but he remains in our hearts forever.

As the fall colors of the season set in and leaves began to fall, the shelter celebrated the season with our annual dog adoption event Barktoberfest. Dog contests, face painting, Petting zoo, and many adoption bonuses made for a family fun filled day.
With the year winding down, we kicked off our Home for the Holiday’s International Adoption Campaign. Due to the help and support of our friends the Long Island Ducks Baseball Team and Former Pro-Wrestler Rick Allen the shelter was able to attain the
adoption goal set at the kick off of Home for the Holiday’s.
While the last days of December were upon us, our proudest and most memorable moment came as the shelter participated in the opening bell ceremony of the New York Stock Exchange on Christmas Eve, December 24th.
A special thanks to all our employees, volunteers, adopters and contributors
who made 2007 a good year for the animals of Brookhaven.
