Patricia Eddington, Town Clerk
Patricia Eddington represented the 3rd Assembly District in the Town of Brookhaven from 2001 through 2009. As a member of the NY State Assembly, she sponsored numerous pieces of legislation focusing on improving our schools, cutting taxes and keeping families healthy and safe. She helped increase the frequency and funding for school audits by the State Comptroller and sponsored new laws to keep schools accountable, including requiring financial training for school board members. She sponsored several laws that protect women and children, laws that crack down on sexual predators and imposed harsher penalties for child sex offenders.
Patricia graduated from Suffolk County Community College, with an AA Degree in Women's Studies. She went on to SUNY at Stony Brook to receive a Bachelors Degree in Political Science and received her Masters from the School of Social Welfare. Patricia is a New York State Licensed Clinical Social Worker. She is also an Associate Professor of Philosophy and Women's Studies at Suffolk County Community College.
She has been an advocate for her community for three decades and an ardent advocate for women's rights. Patricia is the past president of the National Organization for Women, Mid-Suffolk Chapter, as well as a former Vice-President of the National Women's Political Caucus, Suffolk County Chapter. She was elected and currently serves as President of the Alumni Association of the School of Social Welfare at SUNY Stony Brook.
Patricia was elected to the state legislature in 2000 where she served on the Education, Higher Education, Health, Labor, and Government Operations committees. She also served as Chair of the Sub-committee for Women Veterans for four years and Library and Technology committee. She served for nine years as a member of the Patchogue-Medford School Board and served five years as a Trustee of the Patchogue-Medford Library Board. For Patricia's full bio, click
