The Department of Parks, Recreation and Sports, and Cultural Resources’ mission is to provide year-round amenities, services and varied athletic and recreational opportunities to all residents of the Town of Brookhaven. This department strives to provide the very best that Brookhaven and Long Island has to offer and to enhance the quality of life for our residents.
The Department of Parks, Recreation and Sports, and Cultural Resources is responsible for over 170 various parks, sports complexes, playgrounds, ball fields, beaches, pools, recreation centers, marinas and docks. Aside from these locations we have many historical sites such as the Longwood Estate. If you enjoy playing golf, check out our golf courses – The Millpond in Medford and Rolling Oaks in Rocky Point. In the mood for an outdoor concert or movie, check out the Pennysaver Amphitheater at Bald Hill.
The Department of Parks, Recreation and Sports, and Cultural Resources currently operates one of the largest recreation programs in New York State, offering the following programs: sport leagues for softball (Mens, Womens and Fire Departments), senior softball, soccer, volleyball, basketball, lacrosse, and baseball; swimming lessons; tennis lessons; camps; ongoing programs at our five recreation centers located throughout the Town (i.e. painting, baton twirling, dancing, arts & crafts, etc.); wheelchair sports, programs for children and adults with special needs (i.e. summer program, bowling league, exercise classes, dances, etc.) We also have special events throughout the year.
