This department is responsible for parks, ballfields, playgrounds, recreational and sports programs and community centers; beaches and pools; docks and marinas; boat launching ramps; the Bald Hill Amphitheatre and Gallery; and works with the Long Island Cultural Center and the the Brookhaven Arts and Humanities Council to develop the Cultural Center and provide arts and humanities programming throughout the Town.

The Brookhaven Town Historian oversees the repository for historical documents and artifacts relating to the town’s history.  The town historian is not available for private research, but encourages researchers to use the collection, by appointment.  The Town Historian will also assist researchers by directing them to other resources for historical information.
