Kepert Receives National PTA Life Achievement Award

JUNE 22, 2006, FARMINGVILLE, NY – Brookhaven Town Councilwoman Connie Kepert was honored with the National PTA Life Achievement Award from the Longwood Council of PTAs on June 19.

“Councilwoman Kepert is an accomplished civic leader who has worked tirelessly to prevent overdevelopment and to develop community vision,” the council said in announcing the award.

“Ms. Kepert has directly improved the quality of life in the Longwood community in many ways: by leading the opposition to the construction of an asphalt plant in Middle Island, by chairing the Middle Country Road Renaissance Project, by examining Longwood traffic patterns and by involvement in many other projects, and for this the Longwood Council of PTAs is delighted to honor this tireless advocate for our community, Connie Kepert.”
Councilwoman Kepert said she was deeply honored.

“I wake up every morning with the intentions of making our community a better place to live, not thinking about accolades such as this, but it is nice to know that people notice,” she said.
Brookhaven Town Supervisor Brian X. Foley said that Councilwoman Kepert’s deep concern for the community has inspired her work in Town Hall.

“Councilwoman Kepert has been a tireless advocate for her community for many years, and now, in town government, she is in a position to work for the greater good of all the communities she represents in the 4th Council District,” said Supervisor Foley. “It’s another example of the great success of the council district system.”
