Town Welcomes County Help in Cleaning Up Town

AUGUST 2, 2006, FARMINGVILLE, NY – Brookhaven Town Supervisor Brian X. Foley, Highway Superintendent John Rouse and Suffolk County Sheriff Vincent Demarco will outline plans for the Sheriff Labor Assistance Program (SLAP) program to clean up roads in the Town of Brookhaven at a press conference Thursday at 11 a.m. in the media room at Brookhaven Town Hall.

In the SLAP program, Sheriff DeMarco utilizes non-violent prisoners to clean up roads. His crews will be cleaning up scores of roads in Brookhaven Town. In conjunction with Brookhaven Town’s Make It Sparkle, Make It Shine clean-up efforts, SLAP is making inroads in the roadside litter problem here.
