Farmingville, NY – Councilman Fiore-Rosenfeld is proud to announce that the HMS Bounty will be coming to the Port Jefferson Harbor on Friday, June 29th through Sunday, July 1st. The HMS Bounty is one of the most famous sailing ships in the world.

Known for the storied mutiny on board the British transport vessel that took place near Tahiti in 1789, the current Bounty, a replica, has survived to tell the tale. Built for the 1962 movie “Mutiny on the Bounty” starring Marlon Brando, HMS Bounty sails the country offering dockside tours in which one can learn about the history and details of sailing vessels from a lost and romanticized time in maritime history. Since her debut in “Mutiny on the Bounty,” HMS Bounty has appeared in many documentaries and featured films such as the Edinburgh Trader in “Pirates of the Caribbean Dead Mans Chest,” starring Johnny Depp.

“I look forward to seeing the Bounty sailing into Port Jefferson Harbor and I urge everyone to come out and take a tour,” said Councilman Fiore-Rosenfeld, “Port Jefferson Harbor has been a port of call for many magnificent ships throughout its history, and it will be great that so many people will actually get to experience a sight that is rarely seen today.”

Supervisor Mark Lesko said, “The Town of Brookhaven has been home to many rich maritime traditions for generations and it’s great that residents will be able to visit the Bounty to discover the wonders of a time gone by. I encourage everyone in the area to visit the Bounty and take a tour of this beautiful ship.”

Port Jefferson Mayor Margot Garant said, “This joint endeavor exemplifies the cooperative spirit between the Town and the Village and we are absolutely thrilled to have the Bounty in our Harbor to help celebrate our historic boat building history.”

The HMS Bounty will be offering tours at the Town dock in Port Jefferson from Friday, June 29 to Sunday, July 1 between 10:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. Tickets are $10.00 for adults and $5.00 for children under 5, seniors and military.
