Supervisor Foley invites residents and visitors to enjoy event
SEPTEMBER 5, 2006, FARMINGVILLE, NY –Brookhaven Town’s historic Longwood Estate will host the Longwood Fair, Brookhaven’s largest country fair, on September 9 and 10.
“This is an opportunity for residents and visitors alike to take a walk back into the rich history of the Town of Brookhaven while enjoying all the joys of a great country fair,” said Brookhaven Town Supervisor Brian X. Foley. “The fair is a perfect family outing, with events for young and old alike.”
Over the course of these two days, more than 20,000 people are expected to walk through the gates and discover re-enactments of Revolutionary and Civil War battles, vendors selling roasted corn, funnel cakes, cotton candy, and homemade crafts, a petting zoo, hayrides, tours of the historic buildings on the site, and more.
Admission to the event, which runs from 11 a.m. until noon on both Saturday and Sunday, is free for all. There will be a ribbon cutting to open the event at 11 a.m. on Saturday.
