Supervisor Foley Says New Site Will Be More User Friendly

SEPTEMBER 18, 2006, FARMINGVILLE, NY – The Town of Brookhaven has a new website as part of the Foley administration’s ongoing efforts to make Town government more open and accessible to residents. 

The new user-friendly design makes it easy for residents to find what they are looking for at the website, www.brookhaven.org. The website is feature-rich with a set of built-in tools that provide increased functionality and allow easy management of site hosting, design, content, security, and membership options.

“I am very excited about this new website,” said Brookhaven Town Supervisor Brian X. Foley. “This site will help my administration to further open up town government so that all residents will know what our elected officials are working on. I promised the people of the Town of Brookhaven that I would open up the lines of communication between the town and its residents, and this new web site is part of that continuing effort.”

The new website includes pages for each elected officials that allow users to e-mail officials directly from their page, as well as to view maps to see which areas of the town each official represents.  The website also has a new interactive section which allows users to view job openings in each department and the qualifications and benefits associated with each.
Visitors to the site can also access links that offer information about doing business with Brookhaven and answer questions about the services provided by the various town departments.

“The Town of Brookhaven's website is a complex content management system,” said Brookhaven Webmaster Tim Maler. “Its built-in functionality allows administrators to work effectively with its custom tools. Using this web application, the functionality and possibilities are limitless.”

“The new website will be a great resource for town residents and visitors alike to discover all that our great town has to offer,” said Supervisor Foley. “If you need help from a town department, if you want to know what town government is doing, if you want information about town special events, or you want to know anything else about our town, just click on www.brookhaven.org.”
