JANUARY 9, 2006, FARMINGVILLE, NY – Brookhaven Town Supervisor Brian X. Foley today announced more top-rate nominees for appointments to his leadership team. These exceptional candidates will bring experience from all levels of government service to the leadership posts of various Town departments.
The laundry list of credentials of Supervisor Foley’s nominees are raising the bar for this Town Government and are part of his efforts to professionalize Town staff and services. Overall the highest degrees earned by Foley’s eleven nominees include one PHD, one Juris Doctorate, four Masters, and two Bachelor’s degrees.
“These are the Best and the Brightest,” said Foley. “We have found experienced, well educated professionals to lead these departments, and we are excited to get to work to improve services and save taxpayer dollars. Kim Brandeau will bring Steve Levy’s no nonsense, fiscally responsible approach to the Finance department, John Pavacic is an experienced administrator who will bring a strong background in environmental protection to the Planning Department.”
Foley also introduced the new staff in the Supervisor’s Office. Overall the highest degrees earned by Foley’s nine appointees include five Master’s degrees and three Bachelor’s degrees.

- Kim Brandeau – Commissioner of Finance – Kim has 20 years of municipal government experience including 2 years as Chief Executive Analyst of Suffolk County’s Executive Management Unit under County Executive Steve Levy, eight years with the Suffolk County Legislature’s Budget Review Office and nearly a decade at the Town Of Brookhaven’s Department of Housing, Community Development and Intergovernmental Affairs. Kim received a Masters degree in Public Affairs & Management from SUNY Stony Brook’s Harriman School of Management and her BA from Smith College.
- John W. Pavacic – Commissioner of Planning - brings 20 years of Institutional Environmental experience to the Planning Department. He has a proven track record in environmental protection and regulation, planning and conservation, and most recently served as Regional Permit Administrator in the NY State Department of Environmental Conservation

Last week fifteen Town Of Brookhaven employees were informed that they would not be reappointed by the incoming administration. The highest degrees earned by these fifteen outgoing employees were two associates degrees, two bachelor degrees, and one Master’s degree.
