Supervisor Asks for Nominations

DECEMBER 14, 2006, FARMINGVILLE, NY – Brookhaven Town Supervisor Brian X. Foley has announced that the Town of Brookhaven’s Division of Women’s Services is seeking nominations for outstanding women who perform a wide variety of tasks on a professional and volunteer basis.

The Town has been recognizing the contributions of women in the community since 1986 and this year will be celebrating the 21st Annual Women’s Recognition awards during Women’s History Month with a special celebration to be held in March 2007. The Town is once again asking community groups, businesses and individuals to nominate women they believe are deserving of special recognition for their efforts. Candidates for recognition must live or work in the Town of Brookhaven.

“There are many women that dedicate their time and energy to improving the quality of life in our town,” said Supervisor Foley. “Now is our chance to recognize them and to thank them for their tireless dedication.”

Nomination forms must be received no later than Friday, January 12, 2007. They must include a resume (or equivalent) and two letters of recommendation. Forms can be obtained by calling the Division of Women’s Services at (631) 451-6146.
