Town Employees Give Gift of Life
Supervisor Foley Commends Generous Workers
DECEMBER 21, 2006, FARMINGVILLE, NY- The Town of Brookhaven held its first Blood Drive for the 2006-2007 season on December 15, collecting 155 pints of blood for donation. Locations included Town Hall and two mobile units at the Landfill and Parks Department.
The effort to collect blood was coordinated by Long Island Blood Services (LIBS) with the help of Jackie Raccasi from the Town Personnel Department.
“The blood drive was a huge success,” said Supervisor Brian X. Foley. “I’m proud of our Town employees for this concerted effort to save lives. We’re on track to outperform last year’s numbers, making a large contribution to a great cause.”
Last year, the Town collected over 500 pints of blood, receiving the Pace Setter award from LIBS for the outstanding donation. There are still two blood drives remaining for the 2006-2007 season, in April and July, where Town employees and residents are encouraged to contribute.
