Brookhaven Celebrates Women’s Achievements


21st Annual Celebration Honors 14 Women on March 15th

FEBRUARY 5, 2007, FARMINGVILLE, NY-- Fourteen women who have demonstrated excellence in a variety of areas will be honored by the Town of Brookhaven at the 21st annual Women’s Recognition Night ceremonies, scheduled for Thursday, March 15 at Town Hall in Farmingville.

“During Women’s History Month, we are pleased to be able to introduce our Brookhaven Town community to these fifteen extraordinary women,” said Brookhaven Town Supervisor Brian X. Foley. “They are being honored for their professional achievements, as well as for the generosity and enthusiasm with which they grace our Town. This is a very important night in the lives of those who are being honored, and it a perfect opportunity to meet some of those who so positively affect our quality of life.”

The Women’s Recognition Night ceremonies begin at 7 p.m. at Town Hall, One Independence Hill in Farmingville. The public is cordially invited to join Town officials, families and friends in honoring these special individuals:

  • Olga Belleau of Setauket for Business
  • Joann Neal of Bellport for Community Service/Professional
  • Donna Boyle of Oakdale for Community Service/Professional
  • Johan McConnell of Yaphank for Community Service/Volunteer
  • Joy Heinz of Centereach for Education
  • The Honorable Judith Pascale of Riverhead for Government
  • Loretta Gray of Setauket for Law
  • Dr. Eileen Barr McCarthy of Port Jefferson for Medicine
  • Dr. Patricia Duffy, O.P., of Mastic Beach for Religion
  • Dr. Jean Logan of Upton for Science
  • Dr. Fulvia Pilat of Setauket for Science
  • Colleen McCaffrey of Mt. Sinai for Sports
  • Maria Inzalaco of Coram for Technology

Each award-winner is nominated by a member of the community and must either live or work in the Town of Brookhaven in order to qualify. Nominations are considered by members of the Town of Brookhaven’s Women’s Advisory Board and are selected based on resumes and letters of recommendation.

Ceremonies are open to the public.
