Foley To Unveil Swan River Plan
Supervisor Says Plan Would Protect Key Watershed
FEBRUARY 27, 2007, FARMINGVILLE, NY--Brookhaven Town Supervisor Brian X. Foley has announced that the Draft Swan River Watershed Management Plan will be presented on March 1 at 7:30 p.m. at the meeting of the Swan Lake Civic Association at the Swan Lake Civic Club House, Lake Drive, East Patchogue.
The management plan is being developed to improve and protect the water quality of the Swan River watershed. At the meeting, comments and questions regarding the plan will be welcomed by Town of Brookhaven officials.
“Protecting key rivers and estuarine headwaters has been a central part of the comprehensive environmental initiatives the Foley team has championed in its 14 months in office,” said Supervisor Foley. “That has included purchase and preservation of critical open space parcels, greatly improved stormwater management, aggressive actions to protect wetlands and the formulation of smart management plans like this one for Swan River.”
The Swan River Watershed Management Plan is tentatively scheduled for consideration by the Brookhaven Town Board at its March 27 Town Board meeting.
