Supervisor and Youth Bureau to Honor Volunteers

MARCH 19, 2007, FARMINGVILLE, NY--Brookhaven Town Supervisor Brian X. Foley has announced that the Town of Brookhaven’s Youth Bureau and the Brookhaven Youth Board are seeking nominations for individuals and groups who deserve recognition for volunteer work with Brookhaven’s young people. The honorees will be recognized at the Bureau’s 27th Annual Volunteer Awards ceremony on Thursday, May 17 at 7 p.m.

According to Supervisor Foley, for the past 27 years the town has held Volunteer Awards Night, and the Youth Bureau has recognized over 900 individuals and groups for the time, energy, and resources they have devoted to assisting young people. If you know someone whom you believe should be recognized for his or her efforts, either individually or as a group, please call or write the Youth Bureau for a nomination form.

“It is an honor and pleasure for all of us here in the Town of Brookhaven to honor the great work done by volunteers to help our young people,” said Supervisor Foley. “I believe we all know someone who does great work to help our young people, someone who deserves recognition. Please take the time to nominate these worthy people so they can receive the recognition they richly deserve.”

Requests for forms are now being accepted. The form must be returned to the Youth Bureau by April 6.
