DECEMBER 4, 2007, SHIRLEY, NEW YORK – Brookhaven Town Supervisor Brian X. Foley has announced that an informational meeting will held at Town Hall on December 13 at 7 p.m. as the next step in the ongoing Ronkonkoma Hub Planning and Land Use Study.
The public is encouraged to attend the meeting and take part in the study process. Stakeholders will be given an update on the progress of the project and will be invited to share their ideas and concerns. Supervisor Foley emphasized that the study welcomes input from residents and all stakeholders because the study must be community based if it is to succeed.
The study encompasses a number of concerns, including:
-
Demand for community-based affordable housing initiatives in quality and healthy communities.
-
The creation of a diversified and sustainable tax base to address tax burdens.
-
Preserving and enhancing community character.
-
Supporting compact, mixed-use, transit accessible, pedestrian oriented redevelopment.
The replies to a questionnaire recently distributed to shareholders and in the community will also be discussed at the meeting.
