JANUARY 9, 2009, FARMINGVILLE, NEW YORK – Brookhaven Town Supervisor Brian X. Foley and Town Clerk Pam Betheil have announced that prior to the first Town Board meeting of the year on January 10, there will be a ceremonial unveiling of the “Flag of Honor.” This magnificent American flag is inscribed with the names of all the victims from the never-to-be-forgotten 9/11 catastrophe.
Town Clerk Betheil and her staff invite you to the unveiling and presentation of The Flag of Honor at 3 p.m. in the Town Hall auditorium on the second floor.
“I commend Town Clerk Betheil and her staff for their extraordinary work in establishing the Flag of Honor,” said Supervisor Foley. “This ceremony provides us all with a great opportunity to recall the heroism of our country on that terrible day.”
“As we begin the new year of resolutions, agendas, time lines and all of the other events that distract us and seem to hold so much relevance, this event will serve to remind all of us what is truly most important in our lives, our family and friends,” said Town Clerk Betheil.
Refreshments will be provided, and the Town Clerk's office, the Supervisor's office, and the Council offices look forward to sharing this important and meaningful time. Bands from Bayport/Bluepoint and Mt.Sinai will be at the ceremony providing the music. All town employees and elected officials have been invited and all residents of the Town are also invited.
