Foley Announces 50 Long Island Jobs Saved

FEBRUARY 22, 2008, FARMINGVILLE, NEW YORK
- Brookhaven Town Supervisor Brian X. Foley today helped Enecon Worldwide President Andy Janczak and other Enecon associates; U.S. Congressman Peter King; and local Brookhaven Councilwoman Connie Kepert break ground in the Town’s Empire Zone for a new manufacturing facility. Enecon produces high performance polymer systems for rebuilding, resurfacing and protecting all types of fluid flow machinery, equipment and structures.

Construction of Enecon Worldwide’s new 26,000 square foot manufacturing facility, saving 50 Long Island jobs, got under way on February 22, 2008 at an official ground breaking hosted by Brookhaven Town Supervisor Brian X. Foley at the South Silver Industrial Park. Participating in the ceremony were: Michael Tedesco, Enecon EVP; Brian X. Foley; Edward Krensel; Andrew Janczak, president of Enecon, Robert Kneuer, Enecon Sr. VP; Brookhaven Councilwoman Connie Kepert; U.S. Congressman Peter King; and Raymond Donnelly, the Town’s Director of Economic Development.

Enecon is a manufacturer of high performance polymer systems for rebuilding, resurfacing and protecting all types of fluid flow machinery, equipment and structures.

The event symbolizes the continued resurgence of specialty manufacturing in Brookhaven Town; saved 30 Long Island jobs that would have gone “off-Island;” and will add 20 new positions to the local employment roster.

“This project not only allows 30 Long Islander's to keep working here, but also offers Brookhaven residents an opportunity to apply for one of 20 new positions that will be created," said Mr. Foley.
The 26,000 square foot manufacturing facility is located in the South Silver Industrial Park, in Medford, NY.

Until Enecon executives began talking with Brookhaven Town the company had decided to relocate to Pennsylvania, linking up with their parent organization. However, the Town’s Economic Development office, working in conjunction with commercial real estate experts Sutton and Edward of Lake Success, located a site for a new facility and provided economic incentives, including facilitating and fast tracking the permit process, convincing the company to remain on Long Island.

“I am proud of my Economic Development team, led by Ray Donnelly and his staff of Anthony Figliola and Yves Michel. Thanks to their hard work and dedication Brookhaven was able to keep another manufacturer from leaving Long Island," said Supervisor Foley.

Councilwoman Kepert was enthusiastic not only about the employment potential for Brookhaven residents, but about the company’s product line, which features an array of ecologically beneficial products, ranging from reflective coatings that conserve energy to materials that help create “green roofs.”

“As a down-trending national economy becomes more and more of a concern I am encouraged to see we are bucking the trend with more and more jobs coming to Brookhaven. And when those jobs not only help our residents, but the environment as well, that’s a double plus,” Ms. Kepert said.

Enecon has a world-wide client base and works closely with such diverse and prestigious organizations as the Panama Canal, Army Corps of Engineers, U.S. Navy, nuclear and fossil fuel power stations, pulp and paper mills, petrochemical plants, mining and quarrying operations, and food processing facilities.

According to Ray Donnelly, “Enecon is a results-driven, high-tech company producing products that solve problems. What we offered them was a shared commitment to results and dedication to customer service plus, most importantly, the skilled workforce they needed.

“The decision by Enecon to move to Medford reaffirms that manufacturing is alive and well on Long Island and making its home right here in Brookhaven,” Mr. Foley concluded.
