BROOKHAVEN TOWN SENIORS HELP LITTLE FLOWER'S FOSTER BABIES

APRIL 19, 2006, FARMINGVILLE, NY – Brookhaven Town Senior Citizens teamed up with Little Flower Children’s Services of Wading River for their annual Baby Shower on April 18 to benefit the Little Flower Foster Care Program.  In addition to an abundance of baby gifts, the clubs collected a total of $2,508 in checks from donors.

For more than 25 years, the town’s 44 senior citizen clubs have organized their own donation programs to collect layette items for this annual event.  Newly purchased or handmade infant clothing received through the Baby Shower is given to Little Flower’s foster babies. Cash donations are used to expand the Foster Care program, which serves over 1,500 children annually.

“This is just one of the great things our senior citizens and our town’s Senior Services department do to help their friends and neighbors,” said Supervisor Brian X. Foley. “Little Flower is a wonderful program that needs the support of the good people of Brookhaven.”

For information on how to participate in next year’s event, contact the Senior Citizen Special Events Coordinator at 631-451-9140 or call Little Flower at 631- 929-6200. Checks are welcomed throughout the year and can be made payable to: Friends of Little Flower.
