MAY 16, 2006, FARMINGVILLE, NY – Brookhaven Town Supervisor Brian X. Foley believes that community oriented government is good government and that’s why he refuses to be stuck on the hill.
“If Brookhaven Town is to have the responsive, citizen friendly government I promised, town government can’t be bogged down on Independence Hill,” said Supervisor Foley. “I will connect town government to every community across Brookhaven Town, from East Moriches to Blue Point, from Shoreham to Setauket, and everywhere in between. I need to hear what’s on the people’s minds—their hopes, their aspirations.”
This week, Supervisor Foley kicks off his civic listening tour at the Gordon Heights Visioning meeting on Thursday, May 18 at 6:30 p.m. at the First Baptist Church off Granny Road in Gordon Heights.
Next week, Supervisor Foley will continue the tour by doing double duty on Monday night, as he addresses the Selden Civic Association at the Selden firehouse at 7:30 p.m. and the Coram Civic Association at the Coram Fire House on Route 25 at 8:15 p.m. On Tuesday, he speaks before the Rocky Point Rotary Club at 12:30 p.m. Also on Tuesday, he will meet with the Port Jefferson Station/Terryville Civic Association at Comsewogue Library on Terryville Road at 7:30 p.m.
He continues the tour on Wednesday as guest speaker at the William Floyd Summit at the William Floyd High School at 7:30 p.m. Finally, on Thursday, the Supervisor will address the Centereach Civic Association at the Centereach firehouse at 7:30 p.m.
Supervisor Foley plans to spend the summer traveling to the various communities in Brookhaven Town to reach out to civic and business groups and to meet one-to-one with residents to hear their concerns and respond to them.
