FOLEY ANNOUNCES FREE RABIES VACCINATIONS

May 24, 2006, FARMINGVILLE, NY – Supervisor Brian X. Foley has announced that the Town of Brookhaven Animal Shelter and Adoption Center will hold a free rabies vaccination clinic at the Bald Hill Amphitheater on South Bicycle Drive in Farmingville on Saturday, June 10 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

In previous years, the Shelter had offered low-cost booster vaccinations to area pets, with help from the organization Affordable Veterinary Care and Dr. Ed Hamilton. This year, the rabies vaccine has been donated by the Suffolk County Department of Health.

“This is a great opportunity for Brookhaven Town residents to ensure the health and safety of their pets, their families and their friends and neighbors,” said Supervisor Foley. “All pets must be vaccinated for rabies and this is a chance to take care of that essential care for your pet at no cost.”

All Suffolk County dogs and cats are eligible to receive a free vaccination, but there are only 1,200 free vaccinations available. All dogs must be on a leash and all cats must be in a pet carrier.
