Farmingville, NY – On Sunday, September 11, Supervisor Mark Lesko and Councilman Tim Mazzei were guest speakers at the Patchogue Fire Department’s 9-11 Memorial ceremony held at the Patchogue fire house. Residents from the Patchogue community joined local elected officials to honor those who lost their lives during the terrorist attacks on September 11, 2001. On display during the ceremony was a piece of steel girder from the World Trade Center, which will be used in a memorial to be erected in the near future.

“The events of 9-11 are etched in all our minds and we will never forget the innocent victims who perished and the first responders who gave their lives so that others could live,” said Supervisor Lesko, “I look forward to returning to Patchogue to honor them when the fire department dedicates the 9-11 memorial.” Councilman Mazzei said, “Nearly every community in Brookhaven Town experienced the loss of friends, neighbors and loved ones on that fateful day. We will always keep their memories alive and never forget the sacrifices that were made by our fire, police and emergency workers who showed us all what real heroes they were.”
