Farmingville, NY – Longwood High School senior Jack Lapfer, a long-time community activist from Middle Island who has worked on blood drives with his father since he was 10 years old, will now be running one of his own. Jack hopes to obtain a Long Island Blood Services Scholarship to help fund his education. The Blood Drive will be held on Sunday, December 4th from 8:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. in the Saint Sylvester’s Parish Hall basement located at 68 Ohio Avenue in Medford.

Jack aspires to be a dentist and has been involved in many other community activities over the years, including the Special Olympics and the Middle School Character Breakfast.

Supervisor Mark Lesko said, “It’s inspiring to see young people who are so dedicated to the community that they volunteer their time to make a difference. Jack is a special young man and I commend him for all the things that he does to help others.”

Councilwoman Kepert applauded Jack’s hard work and dedication to the community and said, “Young people like Jack who have dedicated so much of their free time to community activities should be looked to as role models from everyone in the community, especially young folks. I encourage everyone who can attend and donate blood on December 4th to please do so.”
