Farmingville, NY – On Friday December 2, Supervisor Mark Lesko and Santa Claus were joined by Deputy Supervisor/Councilwoman Kathleen Walsh, Councilwoman Jane Bonner, Councilwoman Connie Kepert, and Receiver of Taxes Lou Marcoccia and over 1,000 Town residents to light the Christmas tree at Brookhaven Town Hall. The annual event featured performances by the Brookhaven Town talent show winners including singers Stephanie Eso, Meredith Brandise, Laura Lorenzo and Ashley Beard, jazz, hip-hop and lyrical dancers, the William Floyd High School Select Chorus, and the Rocky Point High School Singing Santas. The highlight of the evening was when Santa Claus arrived on a Fire Truck to greet the crowd and light the 50 ft. Town Christmas Tree. The Farmingville Fire Department was also there to serve hot chocolate to the crowd.

“The annual Christmas Tree lighting ceremony is a wonderful tradition in the Town and it was great to see so many residents out with their family and friends to enjoy it again this year,” said Supervisor Lesko, “On behalf of the Town Board, I want to wish everyone a happy and safe holiday season.”

“This is my favorite event. The anticipation of Santa arriving excites us all and the kids have such a great time,” said Deputy Supervisor/Councilwoman Kathleen Walsh. “Thanks to the William Floyd High School Chorus and the Rocky Point High School Singing Santas, the Brookhaven Town Talent Show winners and our town employees who did such a great job coordinating and decorating the tree for this event.”

Councilwoman Jane Bonner said, “Everyone had a great time, and to see the smiles on the faces of the children when Santa Claus made his grand entrance was priceless. I especially want to congratulate the Rocky Point Singing Santas for another terrific performance and also send my best holiday wishes to all.”

“The Christmas Tree lighting ceremony is an event that I look forward to every year. To bring residents from all over Brookhaven together to celebrate holiday cheer is something that is very special to be a part of,” said Councilwoman Connie Kepert.

"I enjoyed being at the Christmas Tree lighting," said Receiver of Taxes Louis Marcoccia. "Events such as this reinforce the sense of community that we have in Brookhaven with residents coming together from all across the Town to exchange their best wishes of goodwill and holiday cheer."
