Farmingville, NY – On December 12, Supervisor Mark Lesko and Councilwoman Jane Bonner were at Teresa’s Family Cleaning in Rocky Point to assist members of the U.S. Marine Corps who picked up “Toys for Tots” for distribution to needy children across Suffolk County. Theresa Ward, president of Teresa’s Home Cleaning, co-sponsored the program with the U.S. Marines. The toys, which were loaded into a van and delivered to the Suffolk County “Toys for Tots” distribution center, will be sent to charitable organizations such as churches, children’s centers, and hospitals.
“Teresa does so much for the community all year round and especially during the holidays with the Toys for Tots program. Because of her efforts, children in need will have a happier Christmas,” said Supervisor Lesko. “I also thank the U.S. Marines and all the other volunteers who will make this year’s program a success.”
Councilwoman Jane Bonner said, “It really is a joyous time of the year, especially knowing that people like Teresa are always there to do what they can to help. Thanks to Teresa, her staff and the Marines, it will be a merry Christmas for many needy children this year.”
“With the holidays almost here, it's exciting to know that so many kids are going to have a better Christmas because of the generosity of everyone who helped us to pull this toy drive together,” said Teresa Ward. “We had a great response from the community and it's nice to see that even in a down economy, people will pull together and do what it takes to make a child's day better.”
