Farmingville, NY – On Friday, December 16, all four JVC Broadcasting radio stations were at Brookhaven Town Hall to broadcast live from the lobby to promote the Town’s INTERFACE Toy Drive. Disc jockeys from My Country 96.1, WRCN, Party 105 and LaFiesta collected thousands of toys ranging from stuffed animals, board games, dolls, toy trucks and bicycles. “I want to thank JVC Broadcasting for being our partner in the INTERFACE Toy Drive and all those who generous people who donated toys,” said Supervisor Lesko. “Today we saw how the power of radio can bring people out for a worthy cause, especially one like this. All their efforts, and that of our staff and volunteers, will make the holiday season happier for children who might not have been looking forward to a merry Christmas this year.”

"In the true spirit of Christmas, our town employees and residents have been extremely generous in their donations. Thanks to JVC Broadcasting and everyone who donated toys, the holidays will be brighter for thousands of children throughout Brookhaven," said Deputy Supervisor/Councilwoman Walsh.

“Every year, the residents of Brookhaven answer the call to help our neediest families, donating thousands of toys, hats, scarves and other gifts for the children of disadvantaged families,” noted Councilman Mazzei. “This year was no different. Collectively the residents of Brookhaven came out in mass to assist those in need this holiday season,” Mazzei continued. “I want to thank the fine folks over at JVC Broadcasting for helping to promote such a worthwhile cause. And, I commend the Town Youth Bureau staff on there efforts, without them, none of which would be possible.”

“It’s heartwarming to see that even in this tough economy, people still have the spirit of giving during the holiday season,” said Councilwoman Jane Bonner. “The toys that were donated will make so many children happy and assure that families in need will have a merry Christmas this year.”

“I was inspired to see residents from all across Brookhaven as well as many of our town employees come together to contribute an amazing amount of toys that will go to thousands of our underprivileged youth here in Brookhaven. Hopefully these gifts will help those children have a happy holiday season,” said Councilwoman Connie Kepert.

"The outpouring of support for members of our community in need was simply amazing," commented Brookhaven Town Councilman Dan Panico. "The generosity shown by JVC broadcasting, Brookhaven Town employees and members of the public helped make the season bright for families in Brookhaven and Riverhead."

“It was great to see the outpouring of generosity and the thousands of toys that were donated here at Town Hall," said Councilman Steve Fiore-Rosenfeld. "At this time of year, it's important that we remember our neighbors who need a helping hand to make the holidays happy, especially for the children. I commend our Town employees and residents for their overwhelming response to our toy drive and I thank JVC Broadcasting for helping us make it such a successful event.”

”We are very excited to work with the Town of Brookhaven on such a worthwhile project,” said JVC President John Caracciolo. “It’s easy to look good when you have great listeners like we do who really stepped up and helped to make a difference for so many of their neighbors that are in need during the holidays.”

In addition to the flurry of activity brought on by the Toy Drive, the Brookhaven Animal Shelter presented “Furry Friday” in the Town Hall lobby. This weekly event introduces cats and dogs that are available for adoption at the shelter. The Animal Shelter is running a program called the “12 Strays of Christmas” this holiday season to encourage the adoption of shelter animals. For more information about pets for adoption at the Brookhaven Animal Shelter, please call 631-286-4949 or visit www.brookhaven.org/animalshelter.

The Town also sponsored their Holiday blood drive which brought out a large number of Town employees and residents to give blood. All three events made for a very busy day at Brookhaven Town Hall.

The INTERFACE Toy Drive is sponsored by the Town of Brookhaven Youth Bureau. They will provide presents for over 7,000 needy children from infant to 15 years old. Donations can be dropped off at Town Hall in Farmingville (1 Independence Hill in Farmingville), or other sites throughout the Town until Wednesday, December 21.
