Farmingville, NY – The Brookhaven Town Parks Department and the Youth Bureau will hold auditions for a cappella groups from grades 9 to 12 to perform in the First Annual A Cappella Vocal Show. The auditions will take place at the Henrietta Acampora Recreation Center, 39 Montauk Highway in Blue Point, from 4:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday, April 18, Friday April 20, and Wednesday, April 25.

Supervisor Mark Lesko said, “There are so many talented young people in Brookhaven Town and this event is another great example of how the Parks Department and Youth Bureau will showcase our gifted youth.”

“Our Parks Department and Youth Bureau are doing a terrific job throughout the Town offering activities that have a real positive affect on our youth,” said Deputy Supervisor / Councilwoman Kathleen Walsh, who serves as the Town Board liaison to the Youth Bureau. “I look forward to hearing all the great vocal groups that make it to through the auditions and appear in the show this June.”

Councilman Steve Fiore-Rosenfeld, who serves as the Town Board Liaison to the Parks Department said, “Events like the A Capella Vocal Show give our young people the opportunity to shine and be recognized for their talents. Those who participate could very well become the recording stars of tomorrow and we would be proud to say they got their start in Brookhaven Town.”

Each group must have three to eighth vocalists and will get the opportunity to perform one song at the audition.

The Town of Brookhaven’s First Annual A Cappella Vocal Show is scheduled for Friday, June 1 at 7:00 p.m. at the Town Hall Auditorium, One Independence Hill in Farmingville. Tickets are $5.00 per person in advance or $7.00 at the door and seating is limited to 350 people. Advanced tickets are on sale from now until Wednesday, May 31. The Town’s Interface program will be collecting non-perishable food items at the show to help needy families in Brookhaven Town.
