Farmingville, NY – At the February 7, Town Board meeting, Supervisor Mark Lesko and Deputy Supervisor/ Councilwoman Kathleen Walsh honored Rachel Newcomb for her heroic actions to save the life of her friend, Josephine Ferrara, who was struck by a car on January 13 while crossing Tree Road in Centereach. Rachel came to the aid of her friend and pulled her to safety.

Supervisor Lesko said, “Rachel is an inspiration to us all and I commend her for taking such quick action to save her friend’s life. It’s remarkable that someone as young as she is had the presence of mind to act so heroically.”

“Rachel’s parents and friends must be extremely proud of this brave little girl who risked her own life to save another,” said Deputy Supervisor /Councilwoman Walsh. “She epitomizes everything that the Girl Scouts stand for and is a great example of some of the fine young people who we have here in Brookhaven Town.”
