 meeting.

Farmingville, NY – At the February 5 Town Board Meeting, Animal Shelter Director Maureen Schneider introduced “Betty” and “Bea,” two mature, mixed-breed dogs that are available for adoption at the Brookhaven Animal Shelter and Adoption Center. These two dogs have been at the shelter for about a month after being found wandering together in Selden. They are lovingly docile, well behaved and house trained. “Betty” and “Bea” appear to have had a long term companionship, either sisters or mother/daughter, so they must be adopted as a pair. All pets adopted from the Animal Shelter are spayed and neutered. The adoption fee for dogs includes the four in one vaccination, rabies inoculation and license.

“I’m sure that “Betty” and “Bea” would make a great addition to any family and I urge residents who are considering pet adoption to visit the Animal Shelter to meet these two wonderful dogs,” said Supervisor Romaine, “Puppies are fun, but we should all remember that mature dogs need love too.”

“Our Animal Shelter staff does a great job caring for the pets they have, but it doesn’t compare to a loving home,” said Councilwoman Jane Bonner, “‘Betty’ and ‘Bea’ are a wonderfully sweet pair together and would make a good addition to any family.”

Anyone who is considering adopting a pet, can meet “Betty” and “Bea” at the Animal Shelter during regular business hours (see below), or by attending the shelter’s “Love is in the Air” adoptable pet meet and greet event on Sunday, February 10 from 12:00 noon to 3:00 pm to celebrate an early Valentine’s Day. Pets that are adopted at the event will receive low cost micro chipping and a free collar (supplies limited). Light refreshments will be served.

The Animal Shelter is open Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday from 9:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. (Closed Wednesdays), Saturday from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. and Sunday from 12:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. It is located at 300 Horseblock Road in Brookhaven, New York, 11719.
