August 7, 2008, FARMINGVILLE, NY – The Town of Brookhaven Department of Community Development, in conjunction with the Suffolk County Department of Labor, sponsors a Youth Conservation Crew annually for boys and girls from the Bellport and Gordon Heights areas. Teens between the ages of 14 and 17 are selected by lottery for a five-week work program that includes trimming, planting, pruning, and raking at various Town Parks and Recreation Centers. This year approximately 18 boys and girls were selected to participate in this program.
