Lesko and Kepert Announce Town’s Quality Of Life Task Force Action To Close Alleged Illegal Roll-Off Business In Ridge

Farmingville, NY - Acting on complaints from local residents, the Town of Brookhaven’s Quality of Life Task Force took action to close an alleged illegal roll-off container business operating at 654 Whiskey Road in Ridge. Upon investigation of the property, which is zoned residential, it was reported to contain several over weight vehicles, outdoor storage containers, scattered debris, outdoor storage of tires and illegal structures. As a result, the property owner was issued 21 appearance tickets. The Town will first attempt to gain swift compliance in the newly formed Brookhaven Community Court without the need for protracted litigation elsewhere.

Supervisor Mark Lesko said, “The swift action taken by our Quality of Life Task Force sends a strong message to those who break the law that we will not tolerate illegal activity anywhere in our town. I commend our investigators for their hard work and the law abiding residents who were vigilant and called in to report the alleged violations.”

Councilwoman Connie Kepert who represents the area in Ridge where the property is located and who has been a staunch supporter of the Quality of Life Task Force said “It is unfortunate that some people in our society have no problem destroying the fabric of an entire neighborhood for profit, to that end I am pleased to report that when an unscrupulous business person operates illegally in Brookhaven they will have to deal with our Quality of Life Task Force,”

If residents believe that a property owner is in violation of any Town Code, they can call the Town’s Law Department at 631-451-6500 to file a complaint.
