Farmingville, NY - On July 17th, Deputy Supervisor and Councilwoman Kathleen Walsh was on hand for the re-dedication of the Centereach Ball Field to be named SSGT. James D. McNaughton Memorial Park. SSGT McNaughton was a New York City Police officer who served in the Army Reserve's 306th Military Police Battalion based out of Uniondale, Long Island. While on a mission in Iraq, he was struck by a sniper and killed. Councilwoman Walsh, who was joined by family and friends of SSGT McNaughton at the event said, “James paid the ultimate price in the defense of freedom. He is a true American hero and will forever be remembered by the community he called home.”
