Ponyboy a very special dog with a great big heart, arrived at the shelter traumatized and badly injured by another dog. A severe laceration on his back required sutures. He was also affected by a skin condition called demodex. Wounds to his front leg were continually treated, but did not heal properly. Ponyboy had large amounts of fragmented bone removed. An additional six follow up surgeries were required to remove dead and unviable tissue. After the third surgery, a special test was performed to find what antibiotics would work best to help Ponyboy heal. Still his incision would not heal. Exhausting all of our options, Pony's only chance was to have his leg amputated. He is doing exceptionally well and has adjusted to having only three legs. Pony has always shown so much love and affection to everyone even throughout the toughest times. It seemed only perfect that Ponyboy has now found love and a new family. Donations to help Pony's friends are being accepted through our "Help the Animals Fund". Your monetary donation will help other sick, inured and neglected animals at the shelter.
