Ponyboy arrived at the shelter severely injured by another dog. A severe laceration on his back required sutures. He was also affected by a skin condition called Demodectic Mange. Wounds to his front left leg were continually treated, but would not heal properly. Ponyboy had large amounts of fragmented bone removed. An additional six follow up surgeries were required to remove dead and unviable tissue. After the third surgery, a special test was performed to find what antibiotics worked best to help Ponyboy heal. However, his incision would not heal. Exhausting all of our options, Ponyboy was
required to have his leg amputated. He is now doing well and adjusting to having only three legs. Each day he seems to get stronger and stronger.
